Lakelands Arch Club:
The Annual General Meeting of the Lakelands Arch Club will take place in the Hotel Bailie on Wednesday, June 20th at 7.30pm. The Arch Club is a social meeting place which takes place once a month for people of all ages with Special Needs. Anyone interested in joining or becoming a volunteer is most welcome to attend the A.G.M. for further information. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated.

Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.50pm. Walk commences at Corraneary Presbyterian Church car park at 7.15pm. From Canningstown driving towards Shercock turn left at crossroads, 2.7 kilometres from Canningstown. Drive a further 1 kilometre. All welcome.
Congratulations and Well Done:
Congratulations and Well Done to East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club who are the All Ireland Champions of the John West Féile na nGael Division 8 Hurling Shield Final that took place over the weekend. A truly historic weekend as our lads landed a National Hurling title for their efforts in Sligo and Mayo this past weekend! Facing off opposition from Donegal, Sligo twice, Mayo, Down and Mayo again in the final to lift the Division 8 Shield in front of an ecstatic support in Ballyhaunis on Sunday. Friday started with a very narrow defeat to Sligo club Castleconnor in a very exciting game. A defeat to a strong St. Eunans from Letterkenny, who eventually went on to the Cup final, was no disgrace. The lads dusted themselves down and on Saturday began by defeating host club Ben Bulben Gaels to finish third in the group. Off to Connaught Centre of Excellence in Ballyhaunis to face off against Beal Atha Bhearraigh from Mayo for a place in the semi-final. A dominant 5-11 to 1-02 win got them to Sunday morning in Tooreen in Mayo to face Down club St Peters Warrenpoint. In a gripping encounter the lads held out by a point 1-04 to 1-03 to advance to the Shield final for the second successive year. This time we played our old but good friends from Caiseal Gaels in Mayo, whom we hosted at National Feile in 2015 in Bailieborough. The first half started well but a couple of soft goals left a bit of doubt in the minds at half time. In fairness to the lads they kicked on considerably in the second half with all sectors of the field contributing to a stirring yet decisive win. Joyous scenes as Diarmuid and Nathan received the Shield from GAA President Jack Horan.
We must give many thanks to number of individuals and groups who made this success possible. To Kathryn and Pat, the Feile management team who delivered in what was a challenging week off the field in the run up to the competition. To Kathryn for all her administrative work in the lead up to Feile. To Colin and Ben who prepared the U13s in the squad to a great standard. To Bridie Rahill for her brilliant transport all over the West of Ireland for the whole weekend. To Nixy’s Bar in Bailieborough for the fine spread at short notice to welcome home the boys. To the cavalcade and supporters who turned out in large numbers to welcome the lads home. To the host families in Sligo and the host Club Ben Bulben Gaels for the excellent hospitality over the entire weekend. To our player families who travelled West in large numbers and were vociferous in their unflinching support for the lads. To all our sponsors and supporters especially McGuirk Engineering who kindly sponsored the new training tops for the boys. And finally to the lads themselves who can now call themselves All Ireland Champions. Well done from us all in the club.
Bailieborough Tidy Towns:
Bailieborough Tidy Towns request that all business, property and home owners would help out, by giving their property a face lift in preparation for the Tidy Towns Competition. The local ‘Clean Up’ continues on Tuesdays at 7pm. All welcome.

Well done to local man, to Tony Gregory who came 1st in the over 40s event at the Crooked Lake Triathlon held on Saturday last in Camlough, Co. Down. Also well done to the local members of the Cavan Kayakarun Club who took part in the Dingle Adventure Race on Saturday last…. Dessie Duffy came in at 2nd in the big race with Killian Heery in 6th despite carrying an injury.
Niall Smith finished a brilliant 2nd in the Sport Race with Ciaran Galligan and Mick Fitzpatrick finishing well!

Evening Spanish lessons for Adults:
Join our 6 -week course if you want to learn Spanish in a friendly and relax setting. Lessons will be based on a day to day situations to help you while in Spain.
