Bailieborough Poetry Festival
This year we are celebrating the fourth Bailieborough Poetry Festival—a weekend including the launch of Elena Duff’s Art Exhibition, readings, writing workshops, music and open mic sessions. This year we welcome Guest Poet, Monica Corish and Gallery Press Poets, Peter Fallon, Vona Groake and Tom French.
Bailieborough Poetry Festival Programme of Events 2016:
Thursday, October 6th- Bailieborough Library, 7pm,
Official opening of Poetry Festival with the launch of artist Elena Duff’s exhibition in the Library arts space. This will also feature the launch of pop-up gallery, ‘Gallery Thing’ in the town, presenting a public display of art works from invited artists. The exhibition will be launched by Ollie Burns, a founder of the CO Club in Oldcastle.
There will be a poetry reading by LitLab writers at the launch which will feature new writing based on the art work of Elena Duff. Sips and nibbles provided.
Friday, October 7th – Murtagh’s Lounge:
7.30pm-INTERVIEW and POETRY READING
Poet, Monica Corish in an interview with Irene O’Dea, featuring amongst other things, a discussion on her recent publication A Dying Language which was published by the Hospice Foundation.
8.00pm to 8.30pm: Open mic hosted by Andy Jones.
9.30pm: Music by Luna.
Saturday, October 8th -various venues:

Book Signing
Alan O’Mara Author of the best-selling book “The Best is yet to Come”, is coming to Bailie Stores on Saturday, 1st October at 12pm to do a book signing. Alan’s book is flying off the shelves all over the country.

BAILIEBOROUGH TIDY TOWN’S GROUP – MOVING FORWARD
A meeting will take place on Tuesday next, 4th October in the Bailie Hotel at 8pm sharp. Aimed at developing the group and forming a new committee for 2017. If you are concerned by Bailieboro town and surrounding environment, please attend. New ideas and assistance very welcome.
Meeting for All Parents of First Communion and Confirmation Candidates
Bailieborough, Killann and Shercock: A meeting for all the parents and guardians of the First Communion and Confirmation Classes in St. Anne’s, St. Felim’s and St. Patrick’s National Schools will take place on Monday, October 10th in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough, at 7.30pm. The main speaker on the night will be Ms. Claudine Marron, Pastoral Assistant in Monaghan Parish.
Lakelands Arch Club
WE’RE BACK!!!!!New season of our arch club is starting again on the last Wednesday of every month from 7-9pm in the Bailieborough Business Centre, Shercock Road. Bailieborough Development Association is in the process of compiling a database with all community groups contact details in the area. If you are involved with any group as a member or a volunteer, be it sports, keep fit, community employment, youth work, anything at all, please call 042-969-4716 with the contact details for the group or email bda@bailieborough.com, don’t think that somebody else will call with the details. This database will be a valuable resource for the whole community, and will help us all communicate with each other on matters involving our community.

Bailieborough Mental Health Association
As part of Mental Health Week, Bailieborough Mental Health Association will be hosting a walk from the Bailieborough Business Centre, Shercock Road at 2 pm on Sunday, October 9th and will return to the Business Centre at 4 pm for refreshments. All welcome to come along and take part.
Bailieborough Community Bowls
Bailieborough Community Bowls have resumed in the Community Centre, Chapel road, on Wednesday evenings at 8.00pm. All members are requested to attend and new members are most welcome.

Parent, Baby and Toddler group: Weekly meeting at Bailieborough Library.
Bailieborough Library Parent, Baby and Toddler Group has proven to be a vital life line for all stay-at-home parents who may be new to the area and wish to get out of the house and make new friends. There is a huge range of toys for children to play with, while parents can enjoy a cup of tea and chat.
The group meets at the Library Arts space every Wednesday at 10.30am-12pm. Why not join their Facebook Group and keep up to date with news and events.

East Cavan Gaels GAA Club – Hurling News 26th September 2016
Under 6/8/10; The indoor season is now up and running. Kingscourt on Thursdays and Bailieborough on Fridays. New players are always very welcome. Remember our catchment area covers Bailieborough, Kingscourt, Shercock, Knockbride, and Killinkere all the way over to Mullagh and Virginia. Indoors will continue all the way to May 2017 with a few blitzes thrown in as well. We are always on the lookout for new talent to join with us. Equipment is supplied while you learn the game with us.

Our Under 10s had a good outing in Castleblayney on Sunday last where they got good games v Blayney and Clontibret. Well done to all the players and management of Colin and Ben.
Training for Under 11s will commence next Sunday from 10-11am on the astro at the Vale. This is open to all club players aged 9.10 and 11.
Under 12/14; We await the fixture for the U14 Championship Shield final.
Under 16/18; Just the Cavan Championships remain for these two sides. Dates tbc.
Dual GAA Stars; Congrats to Bailieborough U16 on winning their Championship recently captained by our own Jack Barry. Kingscourt won the Minor Division 3 Championship and Knockbride have qualified for the Minor Division 1 Championship final. Well done to all.
