We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of people who took the time to read our story and donate. These funds will now help Alison and her Mum through their journey ahead in Germany and aftercare. Alison will start her treatment this week . We wish her only the best ahead and quick recovery. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.
Santa Claus is coming to Town!: On Saturday, November 30th, a very special person will be coming to town to turn on the Bailieborough Christmas Lights. All are asked to be at the Market Square at 5.00pm and help the ‘Man of the Moment’, with the countdown to turn on the new Christmas Lights. All welcome to come along for this great event.
BAILIEBOROUGH COMMUNITY SCHOOL REUNION
Class of 1994 30 Year School Reunion, will take place on Friday, 27th December, at 8.30pm in the Bailie Hotel lounge. A night not to be missed.
Bailieborough Heritage Society: We are pleased to announce our membership of the Digital Repository of Ireland.
We are privileged to have acquired a collection of newsletters published by Mr Peter McConnell a native of Bailieborough. These contain a vast selection of interesting articles and photographs of great interest that he compiled during the 1990’s and 2000’s. These relate to Bailieborough and the surrounding areas of East Cavan.
Our DRI membership will ensure that this collection and other items we have gathered will be preserved and maintained for future generations to access and appreciate.
Regretted Death: The death has occured of John Murray, Gartenane, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan.
John Murray, Gartenane, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, passed away on Monday, 11th November 2024, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. John was predeceased by his wife Rose (Baba), his parents Bernard and Elizabeth, sisters Alice and Eileen and brother Pat.
Deeply regretted by his son Martin, daughter-in-law Denise, adored granddaughter Aoibheann, brothers-in-law Matt and Richard, nieces, nephews, relatives, especially the Donnellan, Murray and Connolly families and a large circle of friends.
John’s Funeral Mass took place on Thursday, November 14th in St. Annes Church, Bailieborough and afterwards, John’s remains were laid to rest in St. Annes Cemetery.

Bailieborough Bowls: Indoor bowls have recommenced in the Bailieborough Community Centre on Wednesday’s at 8pm. Tuition is available free of charge and membership is open to all members of the community.
Home Energy savings event in Bailieborough: A public information evening on home retrofitting and energy saving will be held in Bailieborough Community Centre, (A82 T2Y6), on Thursday 21 st November at 7.30pm. Home Retrofitting is an enhancement of older houses that will make the properties more energy efficient. Grants through the SEAI will help home owners insulate their properties, to tackle heating efficiency and energy costs. Admission free and everyone welcome. /in News /by PetraGo Fund Me: A message from Lorraine Harris, SuperValu, Bailieborough:To some of our customers who might not be aware, our valued long-standing colleague Majella Kierans recently received the devastating news that her only child Alison was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
This came as an awful shock to Alison, Majella and their family and friends. We have had so many customers offering support and wanting to help. We thank you so much.
We have decided with her families blessing to set up a Go Fund me page to help alleviate the financial burden that lies ahead and make Alison and Majella’s journey as stress free as possible, so they can focus on recovery and healing.

Old Films or Photographs Wanted: Director of the award winning film, ‘The Man Who Wanted to Fly’ Frank Shouldice, is working on his next documentary with yet another Bailieborough element. He is eager to get primarily old film and old photographs depicting the town of Bailieborough from the late 1960s through to the 1980s.
Of interest are the following:
Images of Main Street, the Pop Inn Chipper (now the Market Stall), the West End Bar or the Hideout. The interior of any pub life in the town and the Oasis Nightclub Carrickmacross. Or anything relevant to the above from the era described would be much appreciated. Contact anyone in Bailieborough Heritage Society, photographs can be scanned and promptly returned. Pre-Loved Toy Sale: Declutter and Donate your unwanted Toys and Books(in good condition) by dropping them into The Community Centre on on Monday, November 11th and Wednesday, November 13th between 6.00pm and 8.00pm. The pre-loved ‘Toy Sale’ will take place in the Community Centre, Chapel Road on Saturday, November 16th between 12 noon and 3.00pm. Tunnyduff Annual Tractor Run: Tunnyduff Annual Tractor Run will take place on Sunday, 10th November. Registration in Tunnyduff Community Centre at 10.30am, run leaves at 12 noon, €20 entry fee. Regretted Death: The death has occurred of Ena Byrne (née Smith), Bailieborough, Cavan. Ena passed away on Monday, the 28th October 2024 peacefully at Fairlawns Nursing Home, Bailieborough. Ena was predeceased by her husband Vincent and son P.J.
Deeply regretted by her daughter-in-law Philomena, granddaughter Donna and Donna’s partner Troy, great grandchildren Micah and Quinn, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Bailieborough Shamrocks G.F.C.: Delighted to get the great news this morning that we have been granted €23,732 for upgrades to our Clubhouse. Thanks to Sean, Gavin and everyone else who helped for their hard work in securing this funding.
Bailieborough Shamrocks LGFA are preparing for the 2025 season. We are looking for volunteers and coaches for all age grades. No experience required, however there is garda vetting/ safeguarding/ coach mentoring which will be facilitated by our club.

A fantastic performance from the lads in their debut in Ulster Club Championship on Saturday last in Kingspan Breffni. They now move into the semi final where they will play Antrim champions Rasharkin.

Help me provide a home for my sister.
/in News /by PetraPlease help me take care of my sister. We were adapting my house for my sister who has a disability and mobility issues so I can provide care for her. However we have been defrauded by the construction company we had hired to complete the works. They have stolen 38,000 of me and my family and we have had to pay more to repair the damage they had done to the property. Please help us in any way possible. Thank you
