Killann Choral Society Choir: Practise for the Choir takes place in St. Annes Chapel, at 7.30pm on Monday evenings. New members are very welcome to join.
Dawn Chorus Walk at Castle Lake on Sunday next, 11th May. Meet at the lakeshore car park at Lear. This carpark is accessible by taking the turn at the milk plant on the Shercock Road (R178) out of Bailieborough and continuing the L3515 for 2km and carpark is on the left (co-ordinates 53°56’22.9″N 6°58’51.3″W).
Tea and biscuits after walk at the picnic tables. Please do not bring any dogs. Beginners welcome.

Bailieboro Celtic A.F.C.:Our U14 boys finished off their successful season with a presentation evening last week in the Bailie Hotel. A special thanks to Lorraine Harris for generously aranging the evening.
We had club Trustee, Raymond Gilsenan there to present trophies to the following players:
Most improved player – Daniel OReilly.
Top scorer – Cormac Doherty.
Coaches player of the year – Aodhan Byrne.
Players player of the year – Liam Filby.
Well done to all players, coaches and parents involved with this team, hopefully there is more to come in the future.

Bailiebororough Drama Group:
Following the incredible success of ‘Dying Minutes’ hosted earlier this year, we are delighted to announce that Bailieborough Drama Group will return to the Bailieborough Shamrock’s Clubhouse to perform the gripping and darkly comedic play on Friday, June 6th at 8.00pm.
Already sold out in the Ramor Theatre, this provides an opportunity to see the cast you all know and love to see perform in the unique setting of Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA.
Tickets cost €15 (excl booking fee) and are available from the club.
Come along for an evening of entertainment and high energy in this darkly comedic play by Henry Hudson.
East Cavan Gaels: East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club News East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club News 5th May 2025
Senior; County lads in preparation for a hugely important game away to Longford in the Lory Meagher Cup on Saturday next.
Club seniors preparing for the Monaghan Senior League which begins in early June.
County U15 and U17s have games upcoming in the next few weeks.
U8/10/12/14/16/18;
U16s had a positive win against Lisnaskea on Monday last to round out the League phase, two wins and a narrow defeat in competitive games have really helped these lads develop.
The first round of the U14 was lost to the bank holiday and will be refixed. We will host Lisnaskea in round 2.
U12s have completed the Monaghan Spring league and will get ready for some Cavan competition.

/in News /by PetraPoetry Day: Poetry Day Ireland is on Thursday, May 1st an we’re very excited about the event we have planned.
Join us this Thursday for FREE May Day Poetry Readings in Bailieborough Library. Beginning at 6.30pm there will be a showcase of images and poems produced by participants of our Poetry Photo Walk with Suella Wynne and Poetry Workshop with Mairéad Donnellan.
Following the showcase there will be readings by Mairéad Donnellan, Paddy Halligan and Ethan Kelly at Bailieborough Library. Free admission. All welcome.
Bailiebororough Tidy Towns: The Bailiebororough Tidy Towns committee now need volunteers to help put up hanging baskets and to help water those baskets. A vehicle with a tow bar is needed for this task. We would appreciate any help you can give us.

Regretted Death: The death has occurred of Ann P Brady (née Greally),
Kells Road, Bailieborough, Cavan / Ballygar, Galway.
Ann P Brady née Greally, Kells Road, Bailieborough, Co Cavan and formerly of St. Brendan’s, Ballygar, Co. Galway passed away on Monday, 21st April 2025, peacefully in the loving care of the wonderful staff of Med 5, Cavan General Hospital.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Pat, her parents Annie and John, sisters Mary and Peggy, brothers Mattie and Michael and her son-in-law Joe Flannery.
Ann will be forever loved and sadly missed by her daughter Veron Flannery, son Fergal and daughter-in-law Denise, daughter Eimear and partner Kevin, her grandchildren Finola, Ross, Clíodhna, Tadhg, Nessa and Fionn, great grandchildren Seánie, Síofra, Ffion, Sadhbh, Frankie and Siún, her nephews, niece, extended family, friends and neighbours.
Ann’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Anne’s Church, Bailieborough on Friday, April 25th and afterwards, Ann’s remains were laid to rest in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

Regretted Death: The death has occurred of Kate Jane O’Reilly, Corodoagh, Tunnyduff, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan.
The death has occurred of Kate Jane O’ Reilly, Corodoagh, Tunnyduff, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away on Friday 25th April 2025, peacefully in the care of the staff of Cavan General Hospital.
Kate Jane was recently predeceased by her brother Eugene, parents, brothers Pat and Benny and her sister Marion.
Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her nephews Jim, Gene, Vincent, Declan and her niece Annamarie, grand nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Kate Jane’s Funeral Mass took place in St.Brigid’s Church, Knockbride West on Sunday, April 27th and afterwards, Kate Jane’s remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Senior; Lory Meagher Cup round 3; Cavan 3-24 Lancashire 2-14.
Another good result as Cavan continued their impressive start. A wee break before a semi final fixture away to Longford in two weeks.
On the club scene we have a few postponed games to catch up on in the Ulster spring league and training continues in preparation.

Tain U14 begins next week away to St.Aidens.
U12s have completed the Monaghan Spring league and have a wee break until the full league from early June.

Regretted Death: The death has occurred of Sean O’Callaghan,Relaghan, Shercock, Co. Cavan.
Sean O’Callaghan, Relaghan, Shercock, Co Cavan, passed away on Monday, 14th April 2025, peacefully at Beaumont Hospital Dublin, surrounded by his loving family. Sean was predeceased by his parents Catherine and Thomas O’Callaghan, his beloved nephew Noel Larkin and his grandson Baby Jack Farrelly.
Sean will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Olive, adored children Sean (Helen), Andrew (June), Teresa (Padraig), Diane (Graham) and Veronica (John), his sisters Patricia Larkin, Maureen Sengupta, Rose Raymond (Surrey, England) and brother Noel, his grandchildren Andrew, Adam, Grace, David, Leon and Shannon, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Senior; Lory Meagher Cup round 2; Cavan 2-20 Monaghan 1-14.
A good result on round two as the lads held off the Farney challenge on Saturday last in Kingspan Breffni. Next up is the visit of Lancashire on Saturday next.
On the club scene we have a few postponed games to catch up on in the Ulster spring league and training continues in preparation.
U8/10/12/14/16/18; The county U17s had a good win and performance v Leitrim on Saturday last. Well done to all and to our East Cavan Gaels men on the panel.
A hugely entertaining game brought about a good win by two points over St. Aidens in the Tain U16 league. Always positive when we get a win. Next up is a trip to Lisnaskea on Monday 28th .
The U14s start their Tain Campaign on Sunday next with a blitz.
The U12s did well v Inniskeen on Monday last and will have a final v Cootehill on the 28th in Cloghan.
Membership; Membership is now due and can be updated through the East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club App. Kathryn and Miriam will help those who need help on Wednesday in the Bailie Hotel from 8-9pm. Kathryn 087 2441371.
