Recently held Charity Cycle for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund and Temple Street, Children’s Hospital:
The organisers would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the Charity Cycle and walk for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund and Temple St Hospital. There were 80 brave cyclists who took on the 72 kilometres of rolling Cavan countryside and 50 people who completed the lovely walk of the local forest.
We would like to thank Tesco Bailieborough for the use of their premises. The following suppliers for kindly making donations, Fresh Today for the fruit, Irish Pride, Pat the Baker, McCluskeys, Manorhill and Farmbake for bread and Smiths Londis (Slane) for water.
Thanks also to the local Bailieborough Credit Union for their sponsorship donations to both these charities. This event was only possible due to great local support and we very much appreciate help from all the marshals and anyone who helped out on the day.
Bailieborough Walking Group:
The final walk hosted by Bailieborough Walking Group in association with Cavan Walking Festival takes place on Thursday next, May 7th. Leaving Bailieborough Library at 6.50pm. Walk commences at the picnic area, Lough an Leagh at 7.15pm. This will be a one and a half hour strenuous walk. Wednesday night walks recommence on May 13th in Deerpark Forest, Virginia.
ALZHEIMER TEA PARTY:
Many thanks to all those who supported the above Tea Day. Special thanks to the Bailie Hotel for once again putting their facilities at our disposal. If you haven’t already given and would like to donate, the fund, which is now at €465, will be open for a short while.
First Communion:
The children from St. Anne’s and the Model Schools will make their First Communion on Saturday, May 16th and the children from St. Felim’s on Saturday, May 23rd. Both Masses will be at 11.30am.
St. Vincent DePaul—Annual One Day Pilgrimage To Lough Derg:
The Annual St. Vincent DePaul One Day Pilgrimage to Lough Derg will take place on Sunday, May 10th. Please book with Society Members—John 086 055 4578 or Pat 086 063 5856.
Free Study Space:
Study space available for all exam students at Bailieborough Library during Library opening hours EXCEPT Wednesdays 10.30am-2.15pm; and Fridays 10.30am-2.15pm. Free WIFI. Only requirement is to be a member of the Library and membership is free.

‘Abair Leat’ Irish Conversational Group, Tuesdays from 1pm-2pm. Learning Irish for fun. Tea and coffee served. All welcome, free admission.

May is Mary’s Month:
The Rosary will be recited at the Grotto on the Virginia Road every evening during the month of May at 8.00pm. No Rosary on Saturdays. Everyone welcome to offer prayer for the sick of our Parish as well as any private intention.
Plaque Unveiling:
Heather Humphreys Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht will unveil an Ulster History Circle ‘Blue Plaque’ at Trinity Presbyterian Church on this Friday, May 8th at 7pm.
The plaque will honour Anne Jane Carlile, Temperance Pioneer, co-founder of the Band of Hope, in Leeds, U.K., in 1847. Representatives of Cavan County Council, the Ulster History Circle and the Ulster-Scots Agency will be in attendance. After the unveiling refreshments will be served and everyone is most welcome to attend.
Holy Hour:
The monthly ‘Holy Hour’—hosted by Direction for Our Times will take place on Thursday evening, May 7th in St Anne’s Church, beginning at 8 p.m. This will be followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation. All are welcome.

Bailieborough Community Choir:
Bailieborough Community Choir under the baton of Thomas Hanley, Musical Director presents ‘Midsummer Melodies’ on Saturday, 23rd May in Trinity Hall Bailieborough at 8 pm.
Local guest artists will appear on the night. Voluntary donation at door and light refreshments at end of concert.

‘Bealtaine’ at the Library:

All Ireland Camogie Success for Cavan :
Congratulations to Cavan Minor Camogie Team who won the All Ireland Minor Shield Competition recently. They defeated Monaghan on a scoreline of 2-06 to 0-04.
Credit to these talented bunch of girls for their sheer determination and commitment throughout the year and also to their trainers. Well done all.

Bailieborough Community Text Alert:
Annual fee of €5 is now due on receiving text alerts. Contact, Seamus Sheridan, Kells Road, Vincent Cooney, Galbolie or Kevin Carolan, Pine Grove. The Community Alert team is very active at present. They are in charge of our local playground. They fundraise for projects that improve our community and they make all surrounding areas a safe place to live. The next monthly meeting takes place on Monday, May 25th at 9.00pm, sharp, in the Hotel Bailie. New members are very welcome.
‘Woofs and Wellies’: A Charity Dog Walk hosted by Knockbride Macra Na Feirme in aid of Cavan S.P.C.A. will take place on Sunday, May 17th at 3.00pm at the Castle Lake, (Shercock Road, entrance). Entry fee €10. Family fun day out!

East Cavan Gaels GAA Hurling –Club News 4th May 2015
Shane Mulholland: Shane was laid to rest on Tuesday last in Derrylin. The large representative attendance showed how far and wide his talent had reached in Antrim, Fermanagh and Cavan.

U6/8/10; The next blitz is scheduled for this coming Wednesday in one of our local club venues with Carrick and Blayney. All players will receive a text.
U12; The final round of the Spring league sees the boys away to play Annalee Gaels on Wednesday next.
U14/16/18; Training continues for these boys with the next round of U16 on Monday next, 11th May, v Inniskeen. U17 and Minor competitions coming up soon.
Féile na nGael 2015; East Cavan Gaels Hurling will once again play host to this national celebration of hurling. We will host Caiseal Gaels from Mayo for the weekend. Some changes in format gives us a great opportunity to showcase the hurling talent that we have locally.
The action starts on Friday 19th June in Bailieborough with two games in St. Anne’s Park, Bailieborough GAA. Lots of activities lined up in what should be another spectacular weekend for local hurling so mark June 19-21st in your diary.
