/in News /by PetraHappy Retirement Pat: Bailieborough Development Association want to wish Pat Murtagh, General Services Supervisor, Cavan County Council, a well deserved long and Happy retirement. Pat has been working from the Business Centre since renovations at Bailieborough Courthouse began in 2017.
Pat joined Cavan County Council in 1983 as a Craftworker in the Area Office in Bailieborough. He was promoted to a General Services Supervisor in 2005 following the retirement of his predecessor John Coyle. He continued to work in the Area Office in Bailieborough until the establishment of the Cootehill/Bailieborough Municipal District in 2015. He has attended at the Courthouse in Cootehill and The Business Centre.
A real family man, married to Marguerite with two wonderful sons, he has also managed to successfully run the family farm in his spare time, even finding time in his lunch hour to keep up with activities in the Marts online. A great fan of the Weather and Football he rarely misses a trip to Breffni Park. A man of many talents his Irish Dancing classes should prove worthwhile as Pat looks forward to enjoying the freedom to travel again with his beloved Marguerite and many friends.

St. Annes: Returning to Mass: The Government on Thursday last, announced a plan for the relaxation of restrictions in the coming weeks. The following is a summary of the relaxationsof restrictions relevant to Church activities: From Monday next, May 11th: Public Mass returns. It is advised that other religious ceremonies, such as Communions and Confirmations, should not take place at this time.
Funerals: Fifty mourners permitted at a Funeral. Related events, either before or after, should not take place.
Weddings: Fifty guests permitted at a wedding. For celebrations/receptions, a maximum of six people for indoor gatherings and fifteen people for outdoor gatherings. The number allowed attend a wedding reception indoors, rises to 25 from June 7th. (This means that while 50 guests may attend a Wedding Mass, a much smaller number may only attend the reception).
For the first month that Masses return, parishioners ought to consider attending one of the daily Masses, rather than a weekend Mass—to help ease the pressure.
More information on how the Parish will manage these arrangements, will be announced next weekend.
The Bishop has granted permission for the resumption of Baptisms, with a limited attendance confined to parents and godparents.
Mass can be heard on the radio at 107.8FM in the Bailieborough area and 92FM in Shercock.
All Masses and Parish Funerals can be viewed on the Parish webcam or can be heard by tuning in the radio to 107.8 F.M.

Deepest Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to wife Mary, children: Vincent, Veronica, Anthony, Aidan and Martin on the death of John Anthony Clarke, late of Lakeland, Tunnyduff, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 25th , 2021. John Anthony will be sadly missed by his loving family, daughters-in-law Patrice, Geraldine, Annette and Rosie and son-in-law Aodhagan, his adored grandchildren Rachel, Conor, AnnaMay, Hugh, Darren, Kieran, Chloe, Aoife and Darragh, sisters MaryRose, Philomena, Kathleen, Pauline and Margaret, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and many friends. John Anthony was pre-deceased by his parents John and Kathleen and brothers Eugene and Paddy.
John Anthony’s Funeral Mass took place in St. Brigid’s Church, Knockbride West on Wednesday, April 28th and following which, his remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Moybologue Historical Society: After spending the autumn and winter under wraps, the covers are off at Moybologue for Spring 2021 and we are delighted with the finished historic stonework conservation project funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

As Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA Club are nearing completion of the upstairs of our Clubhouse, we as a club are forever indebted to the people who donated money from 2006 to get the Clubhouse started. Without this generosity we would never have been able to build, the wonderful Clubhouse we now have. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and every person for your amazing generosity.

It is also great to see that the underage sections of the club have started back training after being in lockdown for so long. Hopefully this is a step towards what used to be the normal way of life.
St. Annes: In the easing of restrictions, from Monday last, 25 people are now allowed to attend a Funeral. Hopefully restrictions will be eased soon, so that people may get back to what used to be the normal way of life.

Cavan, who passed away suddenly, at Virginia Primary Care on Wednesday, April 21st, 2021. Eugene was predeceased by his parents James and Mary and sisters Mollie and Theresa.
Eugene’s Funeral Mass took place in St Mary’s Church, Clonaphilip, on Friday, April 23rd and following which, Eugene’s remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

East Cavan Gaels: Hurling:Juvenile hurling has returned for all from Monday last, from 6.30pm at Baileborough GAA grounds, St. Anne’s Park. It is most important/compulsory that all players are registered before returning to play to ensure they are covered by insurance. Covid sign in will be required by parents also.
We are all really looking forward to seeing you all, hurling, again and please remember, new players are always most welcome.

/in News /by PetraGood News: In these troubled times, it is nice to see that there is some good news heading our way with the announcement on Monday morning last, that the old Bailieborough Court House is to be converted into Ireland’s first Plantation Museum. €1.4 million will go towards the project. The project will include a visitor centre and museum, as well as spaces for remote working, a youth facility, cultural events and exhibitions.
The Visitor Centre will tell the story of Bailieborough and the surrounding areas and will be the first Plantation Museum in Ireland.
Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys announced the allocation of funding for the project.
Many thanks to all who are involved in the project.

Cavan, who passed away peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 17th 2021. Suey was predeceased by her husband Paddy, brothers Seamus and Michael and her sister Catherine. Sadly missed by her sister Lil (New Jersey) and brother P.J. Her adored grandchildren Roy, Diane, Cian, Odhran and Aine, daughters-in-law, Siobhan and Margaret, sisters-in -law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Bailieborough Group of Parishes: During lockdown, we thought we would return to ‘Word at Noon’ from Monday-Friday each week. We hope these daily readings and reflections will be of some help in this tough time.
Services: Due to level 5 restrictions we cannot meet in our Church buildings, so our service this week will be on Facebook (or on YouTube under ‘bailieborough group of parishes’) from 10:30am this Sunday— April 25th.
Bailieborough Library: Unfortunately, due to the Level 5 restrictions, the Library will remain closed for the foreseeable future. The online Library is available, anytime, anywhere! Throughout the coming weeks, you can access free eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines, online courses and international newspapers! Our delivery service to members of our community who are vulnerable/cocooning will continue for the foreseeable future.

Bailieborough Red Cross: We continue to be available to assist any one still staying at home. If you have GP or Hospital appointments or require medication delivery’s .

Cavan Community Call: The Cavan Community Call Helpline remains available for those who are vulnerable or isolated and may need help with essentials such as food, medicine, transport etc. Lines open 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Please call 1800 300 404 (freephone).
East Cavan Gaels: Hurling: All being well we hope to get back hurling from the end of April, it is only two weeks after the return to school after the Easter break. We have loads of hurleys for those looking and for those looking for helmets you can let us know if you need one and we will look to order again, obviously things will happen a bit slower that we are used to.
All players MUST be members to be covered by the GAA insurance scheme so please use the time between now and return to play to get your individual or family membership up to date.
We are all really looking forward to seeing you all, hurling, again.
